Turning Links to Visio Drawings into Links to Web Pages

Choose this option visio_EasyPublish_Web_DrawingLinkToWeb.PNG (754 bytes) on the Publish Tab to automatically turn links to Visio drawings into links to Web pages.  This is useful when you are publishing multiple drawings that are linked to each other.  You don't need to manually change a link from xxx.vsd to xxx.html.

This works for the links to drawing pages in either the current drawing, or a different drawing.

For example, you have a link from a shape in First.vsd to MyPage in Second.vsd.   Choose this option and publish both drawings, and a link to the proper Web page will be automatically generated.

Easy Publish will remove any reference to a shape since the entire page will be converted into a single picture and therefore it is impossible to show any particular shape when the page is displayed.

Matching Page Names Real-time

Easy Publish matches the page entry of a hyperlink with the actual page name in its drawing:

  • If the page name entered uses different upper/lower case characters, such as "mypage" instead of "MyPage", the actual name is used.  This way your Web page will work on a non-Windows platform, such as Unix.

  • If the page name does not have a match (the page name has been changed in the drawing, for example) the first page of the drawing is used.
