Using Templates

A template is a regular Web page that defines the contents to be populated and the layout of the generated Web pages.  For example, this demo uses these templates:

The Advantages of Using Templates

Templates in Easy Publish give you these advantages:

  1. You can choose a different template to change the display, such as from this tab.
  2. You can easily modify a template (such as adding your company logo) or create a new one

Creating or Modifying a Template

You can use a regular Web page editor, such as FrontPage, to modify a template. You can also work on the HTML syntax directly to add your own  Cascade Style Sheet (CSS), programming logic, and other Web components.

There is a large set of keywords that you can use to populate your template with your drawing information and to communicate with your programming logic.  Please click here for details.  To test this template, simply use it to publish a drawing.

  1. Always create a new template instead of modifying a default one directly.  This way your template won't be overwritten when you re-install or upgrade your Easy Publish.

  2. Copy from a default one instead of starting from scratch to avoid missing required components, such as the link to the JavaScript for the SmartMenu.

  3. Test your template by using it to publish your drawing.

Template Location

Easy Publish installs templates under the Visio's subfolders.   Therefore the location of the templates is different for different Visio versions.   In addition, separate subfolders are used for display, print, and custom properties.

To find out the location of a particular template:

  1. Click the Template button:

  2. Choose Default Folder from the menu.  This will set the template folder as the Current Folder.

  3. Click the Template button again, and choose Current Folder from the menu.  You can then view the current folder on this list:
