Setting Up Page

For each page, such as Page-1 visio_HowTo_BackgroundPage_Tabs.PNG (922 bytes) of a drawing, there are two entities to be set up:

  1. The page to print.

  2. The page to draw.

In order to print properly, ensure that the page size and orientation for both printing and drawing pages fit each other:

1. Setting Up The Print Page:

  1. Choose a page size, such as Letter.

  2. Choose a page orientation, such as Landscape.

2. Setting Up The Drawing Page:

Choosing Same As Printer Paper Size will keep the drawing page the same as the print page.

Unfortunately, however, there is a bug in the latest Visio version -- 2002 SR-1 as of this writing:  The page will be set to portrait each time the drawing is opened again if you have set the orientation to Landscape.  This can become really annoying.

One workaround is to choose a Custom Size that fits the print page size and orientation.  This is in fact how all the Easy Stencil templates have been set up to maintain the Landscape orientation.

Smiley_01.gif (634 bytes) Tip: Fitting Page Size To The Contents:

You can have your drawing page size fit the overall content size to avoid extra blank space when the drawing shows in other software:

  1. Choose menu File > Page Set Up.

  2. Choose Page Size > Size To Fit Drawing Contents.

  3. Click OK.
