Using Pictures and Clipart

  1. Click here to see how pictures are used in an organization chart.  These pictures can effectively present the strong leadership of your organization.

1. Using Pictures or Clipart on Your Computer

  1. Choose menu Insert > Picture.

  2. Go to a folder to get the picture or clipart then click Open.

These two steps can also be used to insert a background picture created from a PowerPoint background.  Please click here for details.

2. Using Pictures or Clipart from The Microsoft Design Gallery Live

The Microsoft Design Gallery Live is a huge online gallery for pictures, clipart, and sound scripts.   You are entitled to use it for free as long as you are using one or more Microsoft Office products.

To use pictures or clipart from this Gallery:

  1. Choose menu Insert > Clipart.

  2. Click this button visio_HowTo_Picture_ClipsOnline.PNG (621 bytes) on the toolbar.

  3. Search and download one or more pictures / clipart.

  4. visio_HowTo_Picture_InsertClip.PNG (9258 bytes) Click the picture / clipart to insert then click Insert Clip.

3. Using PowerPoint Backgrounds

You can easily use the nice backgrounds of the Microsoft PowerPoint as the backgrounds of your Visio drawings.  Click here for details.

Simply insert the picture into a page then move / resize it to cover the entire page -- or part of the page.  Please refer to the previous section to prepare and insert pictures from different resources.

A background picture should be placed on a background page so that the picture is protected while you are editing your drawing.  Click here for details.
