Using PowerPoint Backgrounds

visio_logo_32x32.gif (1061 bytes) Microsoft PowerPoint has very nice backgrounds to create slides.  It's very easy to get more from the Web.  Now, you can take advantage of these backgrounds by using them in your Visio drawing.  Click here to see an example.

1. Preparing Your Background

This section describes how to extract a PowerPoint background for your Visio drawing.

  1. Start PowerPoint and create a new presentation.

  2. Click the blank Content Layouts (i.e. the one on the left of the following display)  to make the slide blank.

  3. Click the Design icon visio_HowTo_PowerPoint_DesignIcon.PNG (417 bytes) on the toolbar.

  4. Choose your favorite background.

  5. Optionally, click Color Schemes and choose your favorite.

  6. Choose menu File > Save As.  Specify a file location and a file name.  Choose PNG as the Save As Type.  Click Save then click Current Slide Only.  The background is saved as a PNG file.

2. Using Your Background

    1. Go to http://www.Yahoo.com or http://www.Overture.com.

    2. Search for "powerpoint template" or "powerpoint background".
