This tutorial shows you how to create hyperlinks, in particular:
|
| Description | Hyperlink | Additional Parameters |
| My PowerPoint | Tutorial_EasyLink_PowerPoint.ppt | Slide Number: 3 |
| My Word | Tutorial_EasyLink_Word.doc | Bookmark: CustomStyles |
| My Web Page | Tutorial_EasyLink_WebPage.htm#CustomStyles | None. Note that the bookmark is part of the hyperlink |
| My Plain Text | Tutorial_EasyLink_PlainText.txt | None |
Double click each newly added row to test. Note that the PowerPoint slides will start from slide one when running under the File tab. It shows slide 3 when opened separately under the edit mode (if you uncheck Show File Link on This Window).
Tip: You may click the Remove button to remove the display from the File tab.
You can create a hyperlink from one Item (such as a shape) to another either in the same drawing, or a different drawing. In Easy Link, this is called Item Link (compared with File Link that links to a file).
Click the Close button of the main window.
Click your right mouse button on the following shape and then choose
menu Define Item Link. This tells Easy Link that you want to define a link starting
from this Item.
The following message shows. Click the OK button. Note that
this message shows only once till you restart Visio.
Go to Visio. Click page tab Flowchart Overview.
Click your right mouse button on shape Begin and choose menu Define Item
Link again. This tells Easy Link that you want to link the first Item to this Item.
The main window shows with two hyperlinks created to
link the two items back and forth. The window title "#Rounded rectangle"
shows that the Current Item is the second Item you
have clicked.
Click button Edit and change the Description to "From Process Overview to Flowchart Overview".
Choose the second row. Click button Edit and change the Description to "From Flowchart Overview to Process Overview".
View the Results:
Choose Hide Me to Show. Click the Go To button. This tells Easy Link to use this link as a bookmark to show the Item. The Easy Link window is closed and the first Item "Make Decision" is displayed in Visio.
Click your right mouse button on the first Item and then choose menu Amazing Visio - Easy Link to show the main window. Choose row From Process Overview to Flowchart Overview and then click the Go To button. The second Item "Begin" is displayed.
Easy Link has added unique IDs to the Items used to built hyperlinks. Therefore save your drawing to save these IDs.
You may try to define hyperlinks to online Web pages. Use your browser to view a page, such as this help page and then copy the link and paste it into the File or URL field.
You may also try to define links to other files outside of your Registry folder c:\My Tutorial. Click the Import button to import the file into the Registry.
Or go to the next tutorial to create bookmarks.
