3. Publishing Your Drawing Online

This tutorial shows you the process to publish your drawing online, i.e. as Web pages.

  1. Ensure that you have gone through tutorial one.

  2. Click the Original button to rotate the first page back to its original orientation.

  3. Choose Web from the following list.

  4. Click the visio_EasyPublish_Publish.PNG (440 bytes) button.  This window shows:

  5. Choose Show Details to show the Custom Properties; Click the Options button and type in "When You Click..." as the menu description.  Note that this option is not available for Visio 2000.

  6. Choose a display template:

    1. Click the Display tab

    2. Choose template amzDefault_LeftCenterPanel.html for the main display and template  amzDefault_LeftPanel.html for the View All page.   These templates will produce nice layout as this demo

    3. Choose Page Index from Top to Bottom since the index thumbnails will be displayed on the left side of the page.

  1. Click the Go button and then Yes.

  2. Click Yes to view the generated Web pages.  Click here to see them.

  3. Move your mouse over the Mouse shape visio_EasyPublish_Web_Mouse.PNG (1503 bytes) and click the menu items to test the hyperlinks for the sample Web site and the custom properties page.

Simply copy all the generated files (excluding the original drawing and the data file Tutorial_2_Pages_AMZPublish.ini) to your Web server.  You may use an FTP tool or access the server via a LAN connection.

Tips:

  1. Delete all generated files and then generate them once more to get rid of any extra files if you have been playing with different options.

  2. Use a dedicate folder to keep all your generated files if you have multiple drawings to publish.

  1. Change the options on the Display and Print tabs to change your Web page layout.

  2. Change the document information to control the display, such as your company name.
